"The Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) was incorporated in 1989 as a not-for-profit credentialing agency to provide a certification program for the entry level athletic training profession. The BOC establishes both the standards for the practice of athletic training and the continuing education requirements for BOC Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs). "

The National Association for Sport and Physical Education's members include physical education teachers, coaches, athletic directors and trainers, researchers, sport management professionals, and college and university faculty.2 For their over 15,000 members, NASPE publishes physical education position statements concerning physical education, physical activity, professionalism, and technology issues.

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. Founded in 1950, the NATA has grown to more than 43,000 members worldwide today. The majority of certified athletic trainers choose to be members of NATA to support their profession and to receive a broad array of membership benefits. By joining forces as a group, NATA members can accomplish more for the athletic training profession than they can individually. The NATA national office currently has more than 40 full-time staff members who work to support NATA’s mission.

"The National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE) mission is to ensure to the public that qualified fitness professionals who have successfully passed the National Board examination achieved an approved level of competency in the health and fitness industry. The NBFE promotes the services of qualified fitness professions as a viable means of improving public health."

The National Physical Education & School Sport Institute is a new collaborate venture between the Great Activities Publishing Company, the North Carolina Center for Health & Wellness and UNC Asheville Athletics.The Institute was established to help support, enhance, and develop the instructional skill sets of grassroots K-12 physical education teachers and teacher-coach leaders.

The purpose of NASPSPA is to develop and advance the study of Motor Behavior (development, learning, and control) and Sport and Exercise Psychology. Membership in NASPSPA is open to anyone who is interested in Motor Behavior and/or Sport and Exercise Psychology and who pays their annual membership dues.
