The Thumb Coast Seed Library Project was initiated by the Friends of the St. Clair River in 2022. The project will furnish two free, public seed libraries: one at Friends of the St. Clair River Thumb Coast Watershed Center in St. Clair and a second at St. Clair County Community College Library in Port Huron. These seed libraries will provide a low barrier to entry for St. Clair County residents who wish to start native plants of their own from our free supply of native seeds and accompanying educational materials.
The goals for this project are to promote the importance of including native plants in all landscapes and to make Michigan native seeds easily accessible and affordable to those who would otherwise not have access to them.
