Open Educational Resources are educational materials and resources offered freely and openly for anyone to use and under some licenses to re-mix, improve, and redistribute. Alternative Course Materials are content that are made available to students at no additional cost to them, but are not openly licensed. This page provides links to resources relevant to STEM disciplines.
Faculty in STEM disciplines are already using open educational resources and alternatives to textbooks in many courses. Select a course below to see what resources faculty are utilizing. Use the SC4 Service Center on the Portal or the college bookstore website to search for courses and instructors teaching sections using open or alternative content.
Please note: OER and alternative textbook adoption information may not apply to all sections of a course. Please verify any course material requirements with teaching faculty and/or SC4 bookstore before registering for any course.
OER and alternative texts are defined as those available to students at no cost (free to access).
