The Celebrity Lecture Series was established at Michigan State University by the College of Arts and Letters under the leadership of Dean John W. Eadie and the Dean’s Community Council in 1988. At its tenth anniversary in 1998 and in honor of his stewardship of the arts and humanities, the series was renamed in honor of Dean Eadie. The popularity of this series attracted students, faculty, and members of the community, and featured some of the most illustrious scholars, critics, novelists, poets, and creative artists of our time.

Cambridge University Press. As a new kind of history of women's writing, it seeks to further the study and understanding of literature, focusing particularly on the part women have played in its development. Our Orlando is a searchable textbase of born-digital, original prose encoded by our collaborative team using our bespoke semantic markup that reflects our priorities in feminist literary history. It is full of interpretive information on women, literature, and culture. At its core are documents about authors’ lives and writing, together with a great deal of contextual historical material on relevant subjects, such as education, politics, science, the law, and economics.

The Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine, is an independent literary organization committed to a vigorous presence for poetry in our culture. It exists to discover and celebrate the best poetry and to place it before the largest possible audience.

MAPS was initially created in 1999 at the University of Illinois as a companion site to the first edition of the Oxford Anthology of Modern American Poetry (Oxford UP, 2000). The anthology contains poems by hundreds of different modern and contemporary poets, including several poets—among them women, minorities, and progressives—who previously had not been published in anthology form. Cary Nelson and the original advisory board of notable scholars realized that readers would benefit from having more information readily available and accessible to them than what a book could hold.

This ambitious series explores English poetry from the age of Chaucer to the present day, providing insight into the poetic craft by looking at classic examples in a number of forms, such as love poems, elegies, nature poems, and comic verse. Leading contemporary poets, including Tom Paulin, Wendy Cope, and England’s poet laureate Andrew Motion, read the selections and discuss core issues.
