The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 received significant changes made to it as a part of the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009." Medcom’s three-part series "HIPAA for Healthcare Workers" has been updated to reflect these changes.
This program reviews existing and new regulations under HIPAA, including HITECH, discusses specific HIPAA legalities and their applications, and outlines patient rights under HIPAA.

(26 min) Emphasizing the importance of communicating effectively and providing emotional support, this program teaches nurses and other healthcare professionals how to maintain airway patency and prevent infection when providing care to the patient with a tracheostomy tube.
