The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 received significant changes made to it as a part of the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009." Medcom’s three-part series "HIPAA for Healthcare Workers" has been updated to reflect these changes.

This program reviews existing and new regulations under HIPAA, including HITECH, discusses specific HIPAA legalities and their applications, and outlines patient rights under HIPAA.

2013. Nevco, (53 min). Covers topics such as :assessing topics from the initial interview including basic anatomy and physiology, lung sounds of common respiratory diseases and therapeutic modalities.

This four-part series discusses pulmonary embolism, pleural effusion and hemothorax, pneumothorax and tension pneumothorax, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. 4-part series, 9–13 minutes each.

This two-part series focuses on emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and cystic fibrosis. 2-part series, 10–16 minutes each.

2 videos (21:35 and 22:08), Using demonstrations, this series examines the fundamentals or suctioning and teaches techniques for nasotracheal, oropharyngeal, and endotracheal suctioning.

(26 min) Emphasizing the importance of communicating effectively and providing emotional support, this program teaches nurses and other healthcare professionals how to maintain airway patency and prevent infection when providing care to the patient with a tracheostomy tube.

It describes the functional basis of breath sounds, defines important characteristics, including pitch, intensity, and duration.
