This page provides information related to adjustments in library services due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

SC4 Library Services - Updates & Adjustments

 

Health & Safety Reminders

  • Masks are required for all individuals (vaccinated or unvaccinated) in any campus building.
  • Masks must be worn in any library space, including study rooms.
  • Disinfection supplies and hand sanitizer are available throughout the library.
  • All library users are encouraged to sanitize their study space or computer workstation before and and after use.
  • Food is not allowed in the library at this time. Water bottles/covered beverages are acceptable.
  • Students are encouraged to wear provided disposable gloves when handling reserve items.

St. Clair County Community College promotes healthy practices as part of creating an academic and cultural environment that empowers students to succeed. Printing and copying services are available in the library.

The library has two printing stations, with printers capable of both black & white and color printing, and a copier/scanner that prints both letter and ledger size.

Printing costs*:

Black and white: $.15/page

Color: $.60/page

 *Cost is per side/impression. 

Scanning services are also available at no cost. 

Check in at the library circulation desk prior to printing to add money to your printing account. 

Students choosing to add money to their printing account using credit, debit, or personal check must visit the SC4 Business Office in Main Building Room 220.

Student computer workstations are available - no appointment needed.

The library features 45 computers which are available for academic use during library hours. An additional 33 computers are available for use in room A100a in the library when it is not in use by a class.

  • Computer preference will be given to current students using computer workstations for study, research, or coursework. If you are a university center student or library guest user and would like to use a library computer, please contact the library at (810) 989-5640 or library@sc4.edu for assistance.
  • Please use the provided sanitation supplies to wipe down your station before and after use.
  • Please see library staff for directions and/or assistance.

Please note:  When operating any SC4 Library computer, users are governed by and expected to follow all computer usage policies and directives, including St. Clair County Community College Library Acceptable Use Policy & Guest User Agreement.

Reserves & Textbooks

Browse the e-reserves to see if your textbook is available electronically.

Please contact a librarian with any questions or for assistance. 

Physical reserve items are unavailable when the College's community spread status is at the Red level.

 

Circulating Books

SC4 Library, like SC4 itself, will follow the U.S. Center for Disease Controls’ scale for COVID-19 Community Spread Assessment Level for St. Clair County.

Blue – Low Community Spread Level = Books circulate as normal

Yellow – Moderate Community Spread Level = Books circulate as normal

Orange- Substantial Community Spread Level = Books placed in 24-hour quarantine before being reintroduced into the collection

Red – High Community Spread Level = Books placed in longer quarantine and/or do not circulate

 

Curbside Pickup

Curbside pickup is still available for circulating library materials. Please submit our request form.

 

Returning Library Materials & Fines

The library drop box is located in front of the College Center (the building the library is located in). The drop box is near the wheelchair-accessible door on the southwest side of the building.

Equipment and technology should be returned to the library circulation desk when the library reopens. Contact us at library@sc4.edu if you need assistance.

The library does not charge overdue fines.

Library Spaces & Information Literacy

Information literacy sessions are available online. (Faculty, please use this form to request a session for your course: https://sc4.libwizard.com/f/ilrequest).

No food allowed in the library at this time.

Library users are encouraged to use the provided sanitation supplies to disinfect any workspace, computer, or study table before and after use.

Remote Support & Services

Even when the library facility is closed, most library resources are still available online!

OneSearch

Use OneSearch to search all library content, including books, ebooks, journal articles, reference works, videos, research guides and more. Filter your results to "full text online" to access content that is available online.
