How to Use the Library Databases

This library research guide provides an introduction to using the library databases.

CINAHL/CINAHL Ultimate

CINAHL is the authoritative resource for nursing and allied health professionals, students, educators and researchers. This database provides indexing for more than 3,000 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health. The database contains more than 2.3 million records dating back to 1981.

CINAHL Ultimate is the new definitive resource for nursing and allied health research, providing full text for more of the most used journals in the CINAHL index than any other database. It covers more than 50 nursing specialties and includes quick lessons, evidence-based care sheets, CEU modules and research instruments.

Citations in CINAHL

On the left, you can see the "HTML full text" as well as the "PDF full text" locations. Clicking on either of these will allow you to view the entire article.

On the right, in the "Tools" section, you can see where to print, email, save, cite, etc. When you click on the "Cite" link, make sure to select which citation style you need. You may copy and paste the citation into your works cited/reference list, or you may export it to a bibliography manager, such as RefWorks.

We always recommend double-checking auto-generated citations, as sometimes they are incorrect or improperly formatted.
